Monemvasia 230 70, Greece

Just about 45 minutes north of Elafonisos on the mainland, Monemvasia is a breathtaking medieval fortress town carved into the side of a cliff, often called the “Gibraltar of the East.” Wander through its stone alleys, explore ancient Byzantine churches, and take in sweeping views of the Aegean Sea.

There are plenty of cute hotels and restaurants mixed into the village, so stay a night, grab a meal with the beautiful view of the Aegean, and admire the authenticity of this greek village.
